Perennial Campers

Camp Never Ends…

Our Perennial Campers program for adults offers three or more outings per year in the spring and fall that are designed to create fellowship in nature and also to expand our Perennial Campers’ nature awareness.  Past field trips have included mushroom hunts, bird hikes, cloudspotting, tree identification, forest bathing, and stillwater paddling on the Shenandoah River.

Guidelines are simple: “Leave pets at home, leave apps in the car, leave field guides in your pack, and keep a notebook in your pocket.”  Events are free (though donations are welcome).  To become a Perennial Camper and register for events, email info@rappnaturecamp.org.

  • Perennial Campers at Rappahannock County Park from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, March 27 at Rappahannock County Park.  Bonnie Beers will lead a tour of the restoration efforts and spring flowers.

  • Perennial Campers at Carolyn Smith’s at 11 a.m. on Thursday,  April 16, at Aylor Hollow in Madison, VA.  Peak spring ephemeral flowers at Aylor Hollow!

Plans are in the works for additional Perennial Camper outings in 2026.  Please check back here for more details.

Week 1 is rolling along! So much to see and do— and a beautiful environment to investigate with our campers. 💚 ... See MoreSee Less
We toured the Camp site at Revival Springs this beautiful afternoon! It was a treat to have Patti Lane and Steve Paull along with the group to help us with botanical finds. There are 5 kinds of ferns we’ve seen so far! We hiked the hillside trails, meadows, and had a quiet time at the confluence. Forrest Marquisee, who built the beautiful hillside trails, also joined us and gave insight into the art of trail building. What a great way to feel ready for the first week of Camp, starting next Monday! ... See MoreSee Less
